About

Founded in 1955, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with more than 120,000 members. The New Jersey Chapter is among the largest three chapters in the United States, with nearly 7,000 members. We represent social workers in micro and macro settings, all practice areas in every community throughout the state.

Commitment to Diversity

The New Jersey Chapter is committed to creating a space where all members feel welcome and as such, we have developed a comprehensive diversity plan that outlines intentional efforts to diversify our organization in the areas of membership, leadership, business practices, education programs, advocacy, and collaborations & partnerships.  We invite our membership, friends and partners to read our commitments.  Our Diversity Committee regularly monitors the progress and achievements on our plan, reports to our Board of Directors annually and makes suggestions for continued work as we strengthen our chapter.
