Get Involved

Are you ready to strengthen your connection to the profession of social work? Are you eager to connect with other members and social workers throughout the state? Do you want to develop your leadership experience while learning new skills?

Great! We’re looking for individuals who are passionate and share a desire to contribute to our Chapter in a meaningful way. The NASW-NJ Chapter volunteer leadership is comprised of volunteers just like yourself, who are passionate about our field, our collective purpose, and have a desire to contribute to the dialogue and lend their talents and voices to the betterment of our Chapter.

Ways you can volunteer with us

We’re a small, lean-mean team and we are always looking for office volunteers who can help us look at data, do research, think through new marketing materials, and attend outreach events. Have a specialty you think we could benefit from? Let’s talk. We’d love to help you find a space to share your talents.

NASW-NJ has 12 units across the state of New Jersey to provide members regionally based networking and educational opportunities. Each unit has a volunteer chair and co-chair to plan and coordinate events that bring value to our members. Units are a crucial way our Chapter engages and connects members!

Becoming a NASW New Jersey shared interest group leader can be a fulfilling opportunity for professional growth and community impact. As a leader, you'll have the chance to connect with like-minded individuals, foster collaboration, and advocate for important social work issues. This role allows you to shape the direction of the group, build valuable leadership skills, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve. By leading the charge, you can contribute to the advancement of social work practice and policies, creating a positive impact on both the profession and the community.

These are one-year appointments and committees typically meet by phone or in person on a monthly basis. Committees are a great way to learn more about the internal workings of our professional organization and help shape programs and policies. You’ll be a leader in our organization. Sounds great, right?

Lead and serve our organization at the highest level! Board positions are elected by member vote and serve one to two-year appointments. Our board meets bi-monthly and is active in conversations, dialogue, and chapter governance in-between meetings. We know you have great ideas and passion—we want you to be prepared to share that with us throughout your term!

How to Get Involved

That's easy.  Simply complete this volunteer interest form and a member of our team will be in touch with you shortly!

Still have questions about where your interest and talent fit within the chapter?  Give us  call, we'll help you find an opportunity that is meaningful.
